Panacea to Co-Sponsor and Present Webinar on National Study of CC/MCC Capture Rates and Case Mix Index Trends with CHIA

Panacea will present its National CC/MCC Capture Rate and Case Mix Index Trend Study at a live webinar in the CHIA Lunch & Learn Webinar series on May 8.

St. Paul, MN—May, 2019—Panacea, a Career Step company and leading provider of mid-revenue cycle management, innovative software and enterprise-level educational solutions, is proud to co-sponsor the upcoming Lunch & Learn webinar hosted by the California Health Information Association (CHIA) on Wednesday, May 8, at 12pm Pacific time. Panacea experts will present a recent study analyzing two years of Medicare data to find the national trends surrounding complications and comorbidities (CC) and major complications and comorbidities (MCC) charge capture rates as well as case mix index changes since the implementation of ICD-10.

The webinar will be presented by the study’s authors, Fred Stodolak, Executive Vice President of Panacea, as well as Sandra Brewton, RHIT, CCS, CHCA, CPC, Senior Healthcare Consultant with Panacea.

Panacea’s study reveals how the industry is performing overall in terms of case mix index trends and CC/MCC charge capture rates since the implementation of ICD-10. The presenters will discuss the findings and share national and California specific trends by CC/MCC capture rate groups and case mix index, the top five DRG groups experiencing CC/MCC capture rate case changes, and how to find results and trends for specific health systems.

“In the world of health information management and healthcare finance we are always searching for indicators that help us identify areas for improvement or opportunities we are missing,” said Mr. Stodolak. “In this study we have taken two years of Medicare claims data and looked at it in a way most other organizations aren’t, revealing another measure a health system can use to direct their training, documentation and audit efforts. We are excited to share this information with CHIA’s webinar attendees.”

This event is intended for HIM directors and assistant directors; coding managers, directors, and supervisors; revenue cycle managers; clinical documentation improvement specialists; performance improvement coordinators; and decision support managers. Click here to register for the webinar.
